Anti-Slip Coatings in California & Wisconsin

Safety-first floor coatings that prevent slips and falls without sacrificing aesthetics. Textured aggregate systems for pool decks, commercial kitchens, ramps, wet areas, and high-traffic environments.

Safety Without Compromise

Traction That Saves Lives.

Slip-and-fall accidents are the leading cause of emergency room visits in the United States, and the vast majority of them occur on surfaces that were never engineered for wet or high-traffic conditions. Bare concrete becomes dangerously slippery when wet. Smooth epoxy coatings can compound the problem if not specified correctly. Standard tile grout lines harbor bacteria while the tile surface itself offers minimal traction when exposed to water, oil, or cleaning chemicals. Anti-slip coatings solve all of these problems simultaneously.

At Marbleous Creationz, our anti-slip coating systems incorporate specialized aggregate media broadcast into high-performance epoxy or polyaspartic base coats. The aggregate creates a controlled texture profile that dramatically increases the coefficient of friction underfoot without creating a surface so rough that it becomes uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. This balance between safety and comfort is critical for applications like pool decks, spa surrounds, and residential patios where people walk without shoes.

We offer multiple aggregate options to match the texture requirements of each specific application. Fine aluminum oxide aggregate provides subtle texture ideal for residential pool areas and bathroom floors. Medium silica aggregate delivers commercial-grade traction for restaurant kitchens, loading docks, and warehouse walkways. Coarse aggregate systems meet industrial safety standards for ramps, stairways, and heavy machinery zones where OSHA compliance is mandatory. Every system is available in custom colors to match your design vision.

Applications

Where Anti-Slip Coatings Matter Most

Pool Decks & Spas

The most critical anti-slip application. Water constantly present, barefoot traffic, children running, and sun-heated surfaces create a perfect storm of slip hazards. Our pool deck coatings combine anti-slip aggregate with cool-touch technology and UV-stable finishes.

Commercial Kitchens

Restaurant and institutional kitchens generate constant grease, water, and food debris on the floor. USDA-compliant anti-slip coatings provide reliable traction even when the floor is covered in cooking oils and cleaning chemicals, reducing workplace injury liability.

Ramps & Stairways

ADA-compliant anti-slip coatings for loading ramps, parking garage ramps, pedestrian ramps, and exterior stairways. High-traction aggregate systems that meet or exceed building code requirements for slip resistance on inclined surfaces.

Garage Floors

Garages collect water from rain, snow, and vehicle drip. Anti-slip treatments added to garage epoxy systems and flake systems prevent dangerous conditions during wet weather, especially critical in Wisconsin winters.

Warehouses & Industrial

OSHA-compliant anti-slip coatings for pedestrian walkways, forklift zones, loading dock areas, and machine perimeters. Safety line marking with contrasting anti-slip zones reduces workplace accidents and insurance costs for commercial facilities.

Bathrooms & Wet Areas

Residential and commercial bathroom floors, shower surrounds, laundry rooms, and utility areas where water exposure is constant. Fine-texture anti-slip finishes that are comfortable barefoot while providing reliable traction on wet surfaces.

Aggregate Options

Choose Your Traction Level

Light

Fine Aluminum Oxide

Subtle texture that increases grip without being noticeable underfoot. Ideal for residential pool decks, bathroom floors, and spa surrounds where barefoot comfort is essential. The aggregate is virtually invisible in the finished coating.

Medium

Silica Broadcast

Moderate texture providing commercial-grade slip resistance. The most popular option for restaurant kitchens, retail floors, commercial bathrooms, and covered walkways. Visible texture that signals safety without looking industrial.

Heavy

Coarse Aggregate

Maximum traction for ramps, stairways, loading docks, and industrial zones. Meets OSHA and ADA requirements for inclined walking surfaces. Aggressive texture profile designed for environments where safety is the primary concern.

Decorative

Color Quartz

Colored quartz aggregate provides both anti-slip properties and decorative visual interest. Available in dozens of colors and blends. Popular for pool decks, patios, and commercial lobbies where aesthetics and safety must coexist.

Flake

Vinyl Chip Broadcast

Our flake epoxy systems inherently provide excellent slip resistance due to the textured surface created by the broadcast chips. The most popular anti-slip option for garage floors and commercial spaces where visual appeal is equally important.

Custom

Blended Systems

We create custom aggregate blends that combine different media for specific performance targets. A pool deck might use fine aluminum oxide in the sunbathing area and medium silica on the diving board approach. Every zone engineered to its use case.

Our Process

How We Install Anti-Slip

01

Hazard Assessment

We evaluate the space for slip hazards, identify traffic patterns, measure existing surface traction with a coefficient of friction meter, and determine the appropriate aggregate type and density for each zone. Different areas within the same project may require different traction profiles.

02

Surface Preparation

Diamond-grinding the concrete to create a proper mechanical profile for coating adhesion. Existing sealers, paints, or coatings are removed. Cracks and spalls are repaired. Outdoor surfaces receive additional moisture and contamination testing.

03

Coating & Aggregate Application

Base coat is applied and aggregate media is broadcast at the specified density while the coating is still wet. The aggregate embeds into the resin, creating a permanent mechanical bond that will not wear away under normal traffic conditions.

04

Seal Coat & Verification

A clear seal coat encapsulates the aggregate, locking particles in place and creating a cleanable surface. We verify the finished coefficient of friction meets the target specification for each zone before signing off on the project.

Compliance & Standards

Safety Standards We Meet

Anti-slip coatings are not just about texture. They must meet specific safety standards depending on the application and jurisdiction. Marbleous Creationz specifies and installs anti-slip systems that meet or exceed all applicable safety standards for both residential and commercial environments. Our coating systems achieve DCOF (dynamic coefficient of friction) ratings that comply with ADA accessibility guidelines for walking surfaces.

For commercial clients, our anti-slip coatings meet OSHA requirements for slip-resistant surfaces in workplace environments, including kitchens, loading docks, manufacturing facilities, and healthcare settings. We provide documentation of our coating specifications and aggregate selections for clients who need to demonstrate compliance to inspectors, insurance companies, or regulatory bodies.

Property owners face significant liability exposure from slip-and-fall accidents. A properly installed anti-slip coating system is one of the most cost-effective risk reduction measures available. Many of our commercial clients report measurable reductions in workplace injury claims and insurance premiums after installing anti-slip coatings. For residential clients, anti-slip pool deck and patio coatings provide peace of mind when children and guests are present.

Common Questions

Anti-Slip Coating FAQ

Will anti-slip coatings make my floor feel rough or uncomfortable?
Not if the correct aggregate is selected. We offer fine, medium, and coarse texture profiles specifically so we can match the traction level to the application. Pool decks and bathroom floors use fine aggregate that is comfortable barefoot while still providing reliable grip. Industrial and commercial applications use coarser media where foot comfort is less critical than maximum safety.
Can anti-slip aggregate be added to any coating system?
Yes. Anti-slip aggregate can be incorporated into epoxy, polyaspartic, and urethane coating systems. We also add anti-slip media to our metallic epoxy floors and flake systems when clients need enhanced traction without changing the visual design.
How long do anti-slip coatings last?
When properly installed with aggregate fully embedded in the coating matrix and sealed with a top coat, anti-slip coatings last as long as the base coating system itself, typically ten to twenty years for residential applications and seven to fifteen years for heavy commercial use. The aggregate does not wear away because it is mechanically bonded within the resin.
Are anti-slip coatings harder to clean?
Slightly more effort than a perfectly smooth surface, but still far easier than tile with grout lines. The seal coat over the aggregate creates a cleanable surface that releases dirt and debris with standard mopping. Power washing is effective for outdoor applications. The trade-off between a small increase in cleaning effort and a dramatic reduction in slip hazard is one that virtually every client finds worthwhile.
Do you install anti-slip coatings outdoors?
Yes. Outdoor anti-slip coatings are one of our most requested services for pool decks, patios, driveways, and exterior walkways. We use UV-stable polyaspartic and epoxy systems designed for outdoor exposure with aggregate selected for the specific conditions of each application.
What does anti-slip coating cost?
Anti-slip aggregate adds a modest upcharge to any standard coating system, typically ten to twenty percent depending on the aggregate type and coverage density. Given the liability protection and safety improvement, most residential and commercial clients consider it one of the best-value additions available. Call (561) 572-8400 for a detailed quote.
